Visiting in the Spring

Spring is a wonderful time to visit Winters. Wildflowers are blooming, yellow mustard fields are popping, and the weather is perfect to explore the outdoors and connect with nature. We’ve put together this itinerary for a three-day visit to Winters with the family that is enjoyable for parents and kids of all ages. You’ll explore downtown Winters’ incredible food and drink scene, spend a day at Lake Berryessa and connect with nature in the surrounding areas of Winters, California.

DAY 1: Explore Downtown Winters

Book a comfortable stay at a local hotel like Hotel Winters, Abbey House Inn, or Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites.

Explore shops, art galleries, restaurants, tasting rooms, the Trestle Bridge and more in Downtown Winters.

After you are checked in, head to Steady Eddy’s to grab a coffee and smoothies for the kids. They also serve breakfast and lunch in case you’re hungry. You can opt for a family picnic in the Gazebo across the street.

Walk south toward downtown Winters to explore Main Street shops, restaurants and tasting rooms. Keep walking towards City Park and let the kids play in our incredible wooden community park.

For dinner, head back to central downtown where you can choose from many different restaurants in town.

After dinner, head to the Trestle Bridge to catch the sunset. Let the kids hike down to the creek to explore the inspiration behind the song Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Head back to Main Street to enjoy live music on Friday nights.

DAY 2: Visit Lake Berryessa

Hike at Stebbins Cold Canyon and visit Lake Berryessa

Be sure to grab a hearty breakfast today to fuel up for an active day outdoors with the family as you head to Lake Berryessa. We recommend Putah Creek Cafe for a well-portioned meal to kick start your day. After breakfast, stop at Lorenzo’s Market and/or Winters Fruit Tree to pick up lunch and snacks at the lake.

Drive west on Highway 128 toward the lake and you’ll drive along the Putah Creek Wildlife Area on your left. Before reaching the lake, you can stop at Stebbins Cold Canyon for a family hike. Right after the trailhead is a stop to view the Monticello Dam. You can also see the famous Glory Hole from this stop!

Now it’s time to finally head to the lake! Make your way to Berryessa Water Sports for all your lake rental needs including wake surfing, pontoons, WaveRunners, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Day 3: Connect with nature

Pick Flowers at the Farm at Park Winters and kayak in Lake Solano

Dedicate your last day in Winters to connecting with nature. The Farm at Park Winters offers a Pick Your Own Bouquet experience every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-1pm.
